COMPANY HISTORY OF MERLO DEUTSCHLAND GMBH

Successful combination: Hanseatic tradition and Italian ingenuity

When D. HEINRICHS & Co., a company rich in tradition established back in 1859, and MERLO SpA, a manufacturing company from Cuneo, Italy, combined their know-how in 1992, the employees in the joint venture already had many years of experience in telescopic machines.

Ever since containerised transport was introduced the company, which is still the largest loader and unloader of general cargo ships in the ports of Bremen, has also opted for other lines of business outside port operations.

In 1970 HEINRICHS started marketing and hiring out fork-lift trucks, including the appropriate servicing.

In 1984 telescopic machines were added so HEINRICHS was one of the pioneers in the introduction of this technology in Germany.

In 1992 the Hanseatic company and the Italians established HEINRICHS-MERLO Teleskoptechnik Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH, which was based in Bremen.

On 1 August 2002 the name of the company was changed from Heinrichs-MERLO Teleskoptechnik Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH to Merlo Deutschland GmbH in order to ensure a uniform corporate identity for the MERLO Group on the European market.

A network of dealers covering the agricultural and construction sectors now looks after the German, Austrian and Polish markets.
